CHILOANE SIBLINGS

Tshwarelo Chiloane (on the left side) excels in sport with achievement at provincial level for netball, together with her brother Lesego Chiloane (on the right side) who has been recognised by the well-known soccer club Mamelodi Sundowns.

Tshwarelo in 2021 was a Grade 9 student at Eqinisweni Secondary School in Ivory Park and in 2022 was set to take part in the regional netball trials. Having received trophies and awards at nearly every level of the sport that she's completed in so far has hugely boosted her confidence both on and off sports field and made her more assertive towards her goals and ambitions. "I have gained leadership skills," she says, "I've leant determination and I've made good friends. "She believes that playing sport has given her a platform to shine, besides making her more fit healthy student.

Lesego was attending Grade 8 at Tsolosolo ya Africa Secondary School in Ebony Park in 2021 and is expecting to train with the under 17 Mamelodi Sundowns soccer team in 2022 as center back.

Similar to his sister, his sport has given him access to new places, environments, and people. All of which contribute to broader experience and different outlooks from that of his community and school. "I have gained leadership skills and made fantastic new friends," he says.

Lesego also believes that soccer has provided him with the opportunity to push him and test his limits; this has helped him discover the type of person he is. He also won numerous awards, medals and trophies that speaks to his success as a soccer player. He will soon be testing his mettle against other aspiring soccer players, many of whom are older than him, for a spot in the under 19 Mamelodi Sundowns team.

Tshwarelo and Lesego thank their former primary school Nokuphila, for preparing them to be accomplished athletes they are, and for the love and support they gave them during their times there, such as donating sporting kit and other equipment. "Thank you Nokuphila for sharing your faith and offering us hope."

The biggest thank you should be to their number one fan and greatest supporter- their mother, Thelma Chiloane. She has ensured their sporting aspirations continued beyond Nokuphila, and takes a keen interest in their school careers as well. Having the unwavering support and love of a parent, is priceless for any learner, and a key factor in the healthy growth and developments of a child both on and off the sport field.

THE LOVE TRUST NEW SCHOOL IN TEMBISA

May 18, 2015

The school is meant to have a significant impact on the children's development and create an environment in which young children live and learn. While working and listening to the community in Tembisa Township, Love Trust saw the need to establish a place where children were given the opportunity to reach their full potential.

Nokuphila School in Tembisa, one of our projects, was started with the intention of creating new opportunities for vulnerable children and their families. We hope to serve in a way that will open horizons and provide for an improved quality of life.

The school serves 257 disadvantaged children from Grade 0 to Grade 4. The school has also seen some successes. The Grade 1 pupils scored 90% in numeracy and 80% in literacy in the 2014 Annual National Assessment Test. The Love Trust grew out of the need to serve vulnerable children and their communities.

THE LOVE TRUST- "LEAVE THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE THAN YOU FOUND IT"

07 February, 2023

PRESS RELEASE

The United Nations chose 5 September as International Day of Charity in commemoration of Mother Teresa of Calcutta, who received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979 "for work undertaken in the struggle to overcome poverty and distress, which also consitute a threat to peace."

The day is meant to sentitise and mobilise "people, NGOs, and stakeholders all around the world to help others through volunteer and philanthropic activities."

The Love Trust will use this year 5 September as the opportunity to reflect on what International Day of Charity means to them and the importance of NGOs  and NPOs and their partnerships with people and companies.

A large part of it has to do with making progress towards the 2030 Agenda on Sustainable Development: "a universal call to take action to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure that by 2030 all people enjoy peace and prosperity." So the day in itself, is about bringing awareness to and recognising the barriers that poverty places on overall International development.

At the Love Trust, we strive to reduce poverty and social inequality through holistic education and care of primary and pre-primary children, including nutrition, psycho-social and remedial support. We impact children's education through the teacher.

"People should better understand the needs of the most vulnerable, and how people can step up and make a difference where they are." "Come one, come all and celebrate such an iconic day with us", chairperson of The Love Trust, Dr Jerry Gule.

As the late Desmond Tutu used to say, "Do a little bit of good where you are; it's those little bits of good put together that overwhelme the world.

Event Address: Nokuphila School, 59 Steyn Rd, President Park AH, Midrand, 1685
